Questions parents ask about Tajweed
At what age should a child start learning Tajweed?
Once your child can read Arabic reasonably well, usually after Noorani Qaida, they are ready. There is no fixed age. Some children begin picking up basic Tajweed rules while they are still building reading fluency.
Do you teach Tajweed rules separately or while reciting?
Both. Your child learns each rule directly, then applies it straight away while reciting, so the rule sticks in practice and not just in theory.
Can an older child or teenager fix Tajweed mistakes they already have?
Yes. Habits formed early can be corrected with focused one-on-one attention. The teacher identifies the specific letters or rules causing trouble and works on those rather than starting over.
